CWI Pre-Budget 2016
In its 2016 Pre-Budget Submission to the Minister of the Environment, Community and Local Government, the CWI is calling for:
- The establishment of a national fund for community development work at local level that will return to a focus on identifying and developing responses to the needs of the most marginalised communities, including women, to be implemented by independent community development organisations and groups.
- The establishment of a multi annual core funding line for national organisations working to address poverty, social exclusion and inequality in Ireland set at levels that allows the work to respond to need.
- The reversal of the policy direction in favour of competitive tendering.
- The establishment of a sufficient budget line to cater for new refugees to Ireland meeting Ireland’s humanitarian duty to support the EU in meeting the United Nations call for 200,000 refugees, and the allocation of a budget to facilitate a community work response to integration.
The Pre-Budget Submission sets out the rationale for this and can be downloaded here
